What we collect

We collect different information depending on how you use the service. We do not ask for more than a listing or an enquiry needs.

• If you create an account: your name, email address, phone number and a password, which we store only as an irreversible hash.
• If you advertise a property: its address, description, photographs and, if you drop a pin, its coordinates. A property address is personal information when the property is your home.
• If you enquire about a property: your name, and an email address or phone number so the owner can reply, together with the message you send.
• If you message us on WhatsApp: your phone number and the content of the conversation, including one-time codes we send to verify it.
• If you save a search: the words you searched for, so we can alert you when a matching property appears.
• Automatically, whenever anyone visits: your IP address, the type of browser or app you are using, the pages you request, and the country your network reports.

Property owner details from other websites

Some listings on this site were not created by their owner. We collect property advertisements that are already published on other public websites, including the contact details the owner chose to publish there, so that renters can find them in one place.

Before we publish such a listing under your name, we contact you on the number in the advertisement and ask. A listing is only published if you agree, and you can ask us to remove it and delete your details at any time using the contact address below. If you do not reply, we do not publish it.

Why we use it, and on what basis

We use your information to run the service you asked for: to show your listing, to pass an enquiry to an owner, to alert you about a saved search, to take payment for a listing, and to keep the service secure and working.

• To perform our agreement with you — creating your account, publishing your listing, delivering enquiries, taking payment.
• With your consent — sending you saved-search alerts, and publishing a listing collected from another website.
• For our legitimate interests — preventing fraud and abuse, diagnosing faults from technical logs, and understanding which parts of the site are used.
• To comply with the law, where we are required to keep records or respond to a lawful request.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it with service providers in the categories below, each of which processes it only to provide their part of the service and only on our instructions. We will tell you which provider we use in a category if you ask.

• Cloud hosting and storage providers — run the servers and database behind this site and store the photographs attached to listings.
• Messaging providers — deliver and receive WhatsApp messages and text messages, which means they receive your phone number and the content of what you send and are sent.
• Email providers — send the email this service generates, such as an enquiry notification or a password reset, which means they receive your email address and the content of the message.
• Payment providers — process payments for listing fees. We do not see or store your card or mobile-wallet credentials; they are entered with the provider, not with us.
• Search and indexing providers — where we use an external model to turn the text of listings and searches into a numeric form for matching, that text is sent to that provider. Where the model runs on our own servers, the text does not leave them.

Where your information is held

The providers in those categories operate data centres outside your country, so your information is transferred abroad and stored there. We choose providers that offer contractual protections for that transfer, and we use them only for the purposes described here. If you want to know which country a particular category of your information is held in, write to us at the address below and we will tell you.

How long we keep it

We keep your account while it is open. When you ask us to close it we disable it and remove it from public view; we retain a record of the account for a period afterwards so that we can meet legal and accounting obligations and resist fraudulent claims, and we can delete that record on request where no obligation requires us to keep it.

Listings are removed from public view when they expire or when you delete them. Enquiries and their messages are kept for as long as either party may need them to resolve a dispute. Technical logs are kept for a short period and then discarded.

Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 you may ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask us to delete it, object to our using it, or withdraw a consent you gave. Exercising any of these rights is free and we will respond within the period the law allows.

Security

Passwords are stored only as irreversible hashes and are never recoverable, by us or anyone else. Traffic between your device and this site is encrypted. Access to the database is restricted to the people who operate the service. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you and the regulator if a breach affects you in a way the law requires us to report.

Children's information

This service is intended for adults renting, buying or advertising property. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.

Cookies

This site sets only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to keep your session secure. It does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and nothing on it tracks you across other websites.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use your information we will update this page and change the date at the top. Where a change materially affects you, we will tell you directly.
